On Monday, the 24th of August 2026, in the Rose Garden of the White House, President Donald Trump delivered a sentence that should be underlined and circulated in every capital on earth.
“Every public school in America is now on notice, that if they tell a child they are trapped in the wrong body, they are committing child abuse.”
In one sentence, he did what no international body has managed: he named a quiet, institutional harm for what it is.
For years, the “trapped in the wrong body” script has been slipped into the formative minds of children, not by parents, not in the home, but in the one institution that holds a child captive for seven hours a day, five days a week, on the state’s authority. That is not a small detail. That is a custodial relationship. And when a custodial institution tells a seven year old that the body God made for them is the wrong one, it is not “inclusion.” It is, in plain language, the beginning of a psychological assault on a child who has no capacity to consent, question, or leave the room.
